Snuggly Serials

About

Note: I have mirrored this site’s contents on neocities. I’ve found making neocities pages quite pleasant, and at present, there are no plans to continue updating this wordpress.

This site hosts my fantasy xenofiction and my essays, notable among them my in-progress series, A Chimerical Hope, and my interactive story Black Nerve: Eifre Quest, as well as a few short unfinished stories: like Kaon Rising, or And the Darkling Reefs Abide, as well as many more abandoned works.  My longest work, Endless Stars is not present here, but can be found off-site.

Black Nerve is the setting shared between many stories. A race of praying mantids stole magic from god-like bats, with this power they claim dominion over all bugs and magic itself, for ambition and atrocity.
See the index for all stories, or continue reading for the most important works.

A Chimerical Hope is the story of three mantis nymphs, united by tragedy and thrust into a world eager to kill them or use them, each driven by impossible dreams.
Read the first chapter here, or see all chapters here (along with a complete blurb).

Black Nerve: Eifre Quest is a story driven by user suggestions.
You are a young mantis who hopes to become a scholarly vesperbane, but the examiners do not see your potential.
Read the first chapter here, or see all chapters here (along with a more complete blurb).

Kaon Rising follows Malthec la Kaon, a dragon orphan, secluded to a strange school in a backwater realm, ignorant of his providence and potential. And with the worldskein sundered, the myriad realms have been plunged into a dark age of isolation. But somewhere among those realms, his destiny must surely wait. Yet the tethers that bind the realms have been frayed for centuries. Read the first chapter here, or see all chapters here.

And the Darkling Reefs Abide is the tale of Ruwene, a medusa jellyfish with no friends or home, acting with grim determination to serve the machinations of a supposed god of death. His story won’t have a happy ending, and he knows it.
Read the prelude here, or the first chapter here, or see all chapters here.

Of Waterweft follows a roguish orphan trying to scrape by in the heartless capital of the Waterweft: Gray Haven, where it rains forever. They flee from their murderous, mysterious old gang and they find an unlikely ally in a strange, precocious little girl searching for her mother. The orphan’s only hope lies in a mad plan they read between the lines of a demon textbook, and a secret not even they know.
Read the four existing chapters here.

Two short stories are hosted here: Karamung His Blindness is a almost magical realist tale taking place in the setting of Endless Stars, about a dragon suddenly going blind; The Preposterity Engine is more of a microfiction writing exercise than a story — it has no characters, and explores the workings of a device.

On Myconidae” is a expository piece exploring my ideas for a race of sentient mushrooms, a la the myconids of the forgotten realms, but informed by fungus biology

Endless Stars is long form serial about a lonely dragon seeking friendship in a strange land of cults and conspiracies, and not currently hosted on this site. Read it here.
